FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The GunPowder Trail Begins in Salida: Experience the Revival at The Bork and Watkins Gallery
Salida, CO — September 27, 2025
Discover a bold reimagining of the American West in The Gunpowder Trail, a multidimensional showcase from artists and co-creators, Carl Bork and Victor Geremia. Featuring the vocal performance of Justin Greathouse as the storyteller. This immersive art show revives the adventures of the old west in Salida, Colorado through three powerful mediums: evocative visual art, thrilling short stories, and a classic campfire tall tale that calls back to storytelling’s roots.
"About five years ago it dawned on me how cool it is that I live in a Wild West town of Salida. There is so much history to draw inspiration from here." Carl Bork remarks on how the idea began. "Victor and I go way back to when we were kids. We reconnected and got to talking about this idea I had, and it turned out Vic is extremely interested in Wild West history." The two got together on their ideas and created a story of a hero character traveling to Salida and the challenges he faces on his way and the unlikely characters he encounters. The show combines the visual art of painting, (Carl Bork) the art of writing (Victor Geremia), and the art of spoken word storytelling (Justin Greathouse).
Hosted at The Bork and Watkins Gallery (149 West 1st St., Salida, CO), the event invites visitors to explore a fusion of history, folklore, and artistic innovation. With powerful visuals, compelling narratives, and the timeless echoes of the old west adventures, The GunPowder Trail promises an experience unlike any you’ve seen, read, or heard before.
Western storytelling, reborn…see ya on the trail.
